The University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Burn Center is one of the nation's leading and busiest burn centers.  Located at the world-renowned Ryder Trauma Center, the Burn Center provides patients with superb comprehensive, multidisciplinary burn care ranging from the resuscitation phase through long-term rehabilitation. The Burn Center comprises a state-of-the-art Burn Intensive Care Unit, a specialized surgical floor, a burn rehabilitation therapy area, a burn clinic, and a burn research laboratory. The Center's medical staff is highly skilled, extensively trained, and dedicated to providing the best possible care to patients with burn injuries.

Beginning in 1962, the burn service grew to become a full-service Burn Center.  Over 200 patients are admitted annually for burn care and approximately 2,000 are seen as outpatients in the clinics, emergency room, and rehabilitation areas of the Burn Center.

The Burn Center acts as a regional referral center for South Florida, caring for patients from Miami-Dade, Broward, Monroe, and Palm Beach counties, and from other parts of the United States, the Caribbean, Central America, and South America.

Besides providing patient care, the Burn Center conducts on-going research to advance the knowledge of burn care and specialized educational programs to prevent burn injuries.
