Burn Patient Care & Services

The Burn Center’s dedicated and highly skilled team of surgeons, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, social workers, psychologists, information science specialists, and nutritionists provide the most advanced medical care to victims of burn injuries throughout their hospitalization and rehabilitation process. Each year more than 200 burn victims are admitted to the UM/JMH Burn Center. In addition, the Burn Center provides burn care and treatment, rehabilitation therapy, and follow-up care on an outpatient basis, with more than 2,000 patient visits annually.

The Burn Center’s five-bed Burn Intensive Care Unit (BICU), located at the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Ryder Trauma Center, is a state-of-the-art facility providing the best care science and medicine can offer. Each BICU patient is isolated in a separate room for protection against infection and cross-contamination.

The Burn Center serves burn victims with the most modern equipment available and is staffed by dedicated personnel committed to saving and improving their lives.
