About Michael A Magarakis, MD

Areas of Expertise

Dr. Michael Magarakis specializes in the comprehensive clinical evaluation and surgical treatment of diseases of the heart and great vessels, including coronary artery disease, valvular disease and aortic aneurysms.

He has a particular interest in aortic surgery and performs a variety of complex operations, including aortic valve repair and replacement, replacement of the aortic valve using rapid deployment valves, transcatheter valve therapies, replacement of the ascending aorta and aortic root and reconstruction of the aortic arch and great vessels.

Dr Magarakis is the 2020 recipient of the “Denton A Cooley” award from the American Association of Thoracic Surgery. He is board certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.

Research Interests

Dr. Magarakis research interests include outcomes in Aortic Surgery, and innovations in technology, instrumentation and techniques for expanding this field. He is also very interested in the training of the fellows and residents in cardiac surgery.
