Trees of Life

Life Alliance has worked with numerous hospitals to have a “Tree of Life” monument displayed in a hospital common area. A tree symbolizes life. This is what the gifts of organ donors represent to transplant recipients. This tree is a reminder of the selfless gifts that donors and their families have given and of the miracles that without them would not have been possible. It embodies the spirit of generosity. Each and every name on these leaves is a legacy; not only to those who knew them but to the recipients. The tree is a canopy embracing organ donation and transplantation. The memory of your loved ones will forever live in your hearts and the hearts of those that can continue to live.

Donors who were a patient at Miami Children’s Hospital, Jackson Memorial Hospital, Broward General Medical Center, Memorial Regional Hospital, North Broward Medical Center or Naples Community Hospital, can have their name engraved on a “Tree of Life” leaf at their corresponding hospital. Once the leaf has been placed on the monument, families are notified.

We continue to work with hospitals throughout South Florida so that more families have the opportunity honor their loved ones. Whenever a monument is displayed at a new hospital, the families of donors from this hospital will be notified. Families can request that a leaf in memory of their loved one be placed on the tree and will also be invited to attend an unveiling ceremony.

To confirm that your loved one’s leaf has been placed on the Tree of Life or to request that your loved one’s name be added to an existing Tree of Life monument, please contact Donor Family Services at 1-800-232-2892 or laorainfo@med.miami.edu.
