Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement

The Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) department works to improve the accuracy and timeliness of all record-keeping, data collection, and reporting to federal, state, and voluntary regulatory agencies, to assure compliance and the quality and integrity of the donation process. Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency is certified by CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) and the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS). Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency is registered and certified by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), and is accredited by the Association of Organ Procurement Organizations (AOPO). QAPI audits hospital referrals, donor activity, donor records, and the effectiveness of professional activities, including donor management, effectiveness of requests for consent for donation, and community and professional education. QAPI efforts assist in ensuring suitability of donor organs for transplantation. QAPI employees are certified by the American Society for Quality, and pursue quality improvement projects on a continuous basis, in order to streamline and improve processes throughout the organization.
