Spearheaded by nationally and internationally acclaimed surgeons and researchers, the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is uniquely positioned to meet the complex needs of patients and their referring physicians and dentists by providing comprehensive services in the full-scope of the specialty.

Our surgeons not only use the latest technology and cutting-edge techniques, but have been integral in researching, developing and pioneering many of these technologies and surgical techniques including use of stem-cells and minimally invasive maxillofacial surgical techniques.

Conveniently located inside the University of Miami Hospital lobby level or at Deering Medical Plaza in South Miami. Patients also experience the added benefits and convenience of easy access to other medical specialties, radiologic studies and laboratory tests.

Oral Maxillofacial Surgery

Services provided include:

  • Anesthesia: IV Sedation and General Anesthesia.
  • Oral & Dentolalveolar Surgery: removal of impacted wisdom teeth and cysts.
  • Pre-prosthetic surgery: soft tissue and bone augmentation/preparation for dental implants.
  • Dental Implantology: bone grafting and placement of implants to replace missing teeth, stabilize dentures or a dental or facial prosthesis.
  • Surgical Orthodontics: functional and aesthetic corrective jaw and corrective facial surgery. As well as surgery to treat snoring and obstructive sleep apnea
  • Facial Trauma Surgery: emergency repair and reconstruction of facial soft tissues and facial bone fractures including the upper and lower jaws, nose, sinuses, cheek bones and orbits.
  • Head/Neck & Facial Reconstruction: reconstruction of acquired defects of the face as a result of trauma or ablative cancer/tumor surgery.
  • Cleft Lip/Palate/Craniofacial Surgery: repair/reconstruction of developmental defects of the head and neck.
  • Dental Cleanings: performed by a dental hygienist (adults and children).
  • Extensive experience in healing promotion and bone rebuilding using growth factors and stem cells.
  • Oral Hygiene instructions as needed
  • Application of fluoride in office or to take home and apply with customized trays
  • Head & Neck Tumor/Cancer Surgery: Biopsy or surgical removal and reconstruction of the jaws, facial or skin cancers, salivary gland tumors and others
  • Advanced Bio-Technology: 3D/Cone-Beam CT Scanner, Digital Radiography, Platelet Rich Plasma and Bone Morphogenetic Protein.
  • Root canal therapy
  • Management and selected surgery for radiation damaged jaws and skin.
  • Management and selected surgeries for exposed bone complication from osteoporosis medication s of from cancer treatments
