The Division of Pediatric Surgery at the University of Miami School of Medicine includes only the most highly skilled and qualified pediatric healthcare providers; compassionate, concerned and caring individuals with an understanding of the special needs of pediatric patients and their parents. The team of highly trained, board-certified University of Miami pediatric surgeons performs more than 1,000 procedures each year at Jackson Memorial Medical Center and an additional 800 procedures at various other South Florida hospitals. The School of Medicine’s pediatric division provides comprehensive clinical services for children in the South Florida region. Its specialists provide all aspects of childcare, including cardiac surgery, transplantation, emergency treatment, and surgery immediately following birth. At the medical center, an infant’s condition may be diagnosed before birth by the mother’s obstetrician and, if needed, surgery can be performed at birth with no transportation required. Because of the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center’s comprehensive nature, all childcare needs are met under one roof – from pre-birth to adolescence.
