Welcome to the Research Division of the DeWitt Daughtry Family Department of Surgery at the University of Miami School of Medicine.

Established in 1996, the Research Division functions as a vital resource to the various divisions within the Department of Surgery that require additional support to conduct research activities.

The Research Division offers a wide array of services ranging from developing protocol and hiring required research staff to preparing budgets, identifying funding opportunities, dealing with space concerns, and more.

The Department of Surgery currently conducts over 100 active research projects amounting to over $35 million in committed funding from a variety of sources such as the National Institutes of Health and private sector companies. As a result, the Research Division provides additional research support (in varying capacities) to the majority of divisions within the Department of Surgery.
