William Lehman Injury Research Center

The William Lehman Injury Research Center, an internationally recognized research facility located at the Ryder Trauma Center at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center, was established to improve the treatment, prevention, and rehabilitation of traumatic injuries resulting from blunt trauma.

The center is named in honor of the late Congressman William Lehman (1919-2005), who championed the cause of injury prevention. He is also credited for the initial congressional mandate, issued in 1991, for the center to improve automobile safety through research and education.
