The Crash Study Team
The Crash Study Team collects information about car occupant's injuries and causes. The data is to help identify patterns of injury, and to successfully communicate with the public about automobile safety features and how to use them properly.
A typical crash study consists of:
- Interviewing crash victims about their well being
- Obtaining written consent from car crash victims for access to medical records to document injuries.
- Taking pictures of your injuries.
- Examining the car and the other cars involved in the crash, which includes taking photos.
- Reconstructing the crash (by taking measurements inside and outside of the car.)
- Obtaining a copy of the police crash report. Determining which injuries were causes by what contacts in the vehicles.
